Symptoms Of Migraine Headaches

The migraine is far more common that most people realize.

There are many pain killing treatments for migraines, but do they really work?  What is the best way to manage your migraine headaches?

There is no simple solution to migraines, but you can monitor and manage the symptoms of migraine headaches.

Before you start you need to know what these symptoms are.  Below is a list to help you identify the areas you should monitor to better understand the symptoms of migraine headaches.

1.    The head.   This may sound obvious, but every migraine sufferer has different symptoms.  In many cases the headache is the last symptom to appear.  If you find this is your final symptom, then with the correct pain management and relaxation techniques you may be able to reduce or even avoid this symptom.

2.    The eyes.  Many people are aware that migraine sufferers often see ‘spots’ in their vision.  This is a simplification of what is happening.  The affect on the eyes can be blurring of peripheral vision and can also be the only symptom of a migraine headache.  Some sufferers of ocular migraines find that their migraines are based entirely around the eyes and their vision.

3.    The digestion.  Migraines are often associated with nausea, vomiting and indigestion.  It may vary as to whether this is a result of the pain of the migraine on the body or is an independent symptom.  Which ever it is it needs to be managed and controlled as best as possible.

Once you have clearly identified the form of your migraine then you can start to manage the pain and to work out the triggers of your migraines.

Pain management is important in the successful handling of migraines; however, identifying your migraine triggers is a better long term solution.

The triggers of a migraine are defined as the circumstances which induce your migraine.  Recognizing your triggers means that you may be able to avoid them.  Triggers can come in all shapes and forms.  A trigger can be environmental, for example noise or light.  Other triggers can be more chemical based, many people believe that there migraines are caused by certain foods and drinks such as dairy and caffeine.
